FYI
-- I had the phone (371-1901) at the Newspaper
Museum disconnected today. I had been pondering that
change for over a year as I am rarely there and was getting mostly
"junk" calls on the message recorder anyway. A 60% jump
in this month's AT&T bill made it an easy decision. I will update
a few key pages to remove that number online ... I've been posting
it less in anticipation of this day ... but it will remain on 1000's
of older cvilleok pages from the past 11+ years. Email has always
been the best tool for me anyway (wrightted@aol.com
or twright@collinsville.k12.ok.us).
And I rarely post my cell phone online (918-798-1804) as I don't
want all the "junk" calls there that come from internet
search/solitations. -- Ted Wright -- June 30, 2014 |

I
have reached the decision that I will NOT offer individual photo
CDs next year. I will be lucky to finish this current batch before
July (I used to have them wrapped up before June)... and have not
even started on Nifty Fifties class prints. -- Ted Wright 6/23/2014 |

Mini Editorial:
I attended the State School Superintendent Candidate Forum ... and
the "anyone but Barresi" choice is obvious (to me and
that audience) but who to replace her with is not so obvious. It
appeared to me than any of the 4 democrats and 1 republican that
answered questions Tuesday at Owasso (Barresi did not attend) would
go a long way to repair the damage of the past 3 years but it will
be your decision to pick the best from that group when you vote
June 24th. -- Ted Wright 6/17/2014
I may have a bit more to say later on the superintendent candidates
later. Those in attendance at Owasso were: Democrats (Freda Deskin,
Jack Herron, John Cox, and Ivan Holmes) & Republican (Joy Hofmeister).

I'm
never really "caught up" ... but the news backlog is down
to just a few days now. I will eventually have photos for the CEF
Golf Scramble, and youth camps this week (girls basketball &
boys baseball), and an all-state update. Also hope to do first serious
effort on individual photo CDs this week since about April. -- Ted

FYI
... if you missed them somehow ... the storm sirens sounded
in Collinsville about 10:45pm Thursday June 5th ... with
a possible tornado north of us near Talala having an uncertain path
southward. The warning was soon downgraded and we just had another
good rain. The Chamber's free outdoor movie (which finally started
~9pm) was also cut a bit short by the approaching lightning and
rain. -- Ted |

I
see that the First Baptist Church has started the next phase of
their on-going construction project with dirt moving on the corner
of 14th & Main today. I'll have to get out for a photo soon
... but heard status that the new upper elementary has 1/3 of the
slab poured and some metal going up already. The HS construction
is on hold for about a month pending a rebid.

FFA Needs Your Help! -- For the last few months a group of my
students worked to create a video for the Oklahoma Farm Bureau youth
video contest. I received word last week their video was chosen
to be in the finals. As of yesterday, June 1st, voting began. Obviously
the video with the most votes wins which is where we need your help!
The video is posted to YouTube, every time our video is watched
between now and June 14th we get a vote! I have posted the link
below, please share this with anyone you think would be willing
to help by watching. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6h5Lcii9xM
A little background
on the contest- The video had to be created by students in an Oklahoma
FFA or 4-H Club/Chapter, the video had to be less than 3 minutes
long, and the video had to promote a positive message about agriculture.
