Gateway Meet at City Hall (Oct.25th) detailed a plan to close/replace the Main Street bridge over Blackjack Creek in just a few weeks with a detour of Main Street traffic to the new Broadway bridge. Construction will begin Monday Oct. 29th on a new Main to Broadway temporary detour connection. When that connection is ready, the Broadway bridge will be opened and the Main Street Bridge closed (perhaps by Nov. 5th?). Main Street bridge construction is expected to take 80-90 days. Sherwood Construction Company indicated 1-lane of traffic would be allowed back on the new bridge as soon as possible. The final 4 lane improvement from Hwy 169 to 5th and Main is anticipated to be completed before May 2008 barring extreme weather delays.-- Ted Wright (7:15pm Thurs) ... more below:

Larger tree limbs can be hauled to the City Brush Pit off 156th St. North by calling City Hall to arrange to get into the brush pit. This weekend call 371-1000 (Police non-emergency) to arrange to open the brush pit. Death of Janice (Wilson) Schnack -- (A CHS 1959 graduate) died Wednesday, Sept. 26. Janice was in an automobile accident nearly 4 years ago and had many injuries and went through many surgeries and fought hard to stay alive.
Her dad, Woody Wilson, owned and operated Woody’s welding shop here and was very instrumental in building our swimming pool back in the 50’s. In fact the fair grounds use to have a sign posted by the old depot that said “Woody Wilson Park”. Her mother, Alice Wilson, had a dress shop, “Alice’s Dress Shop” on Main Street for many years.
Her body is at the Anderson-Burris Funeral Home in Enid, OK at 3002 N Van Buren St. Phone: 580-233-2700. Obituary at: www.andersonburris.com. Her funeral will be Wednesday, Oct. 3, at 11:00 at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Enid and burial at the Cushing Cemetery at 2:30.
