Pastor Gary Cate Retiring
Ted,
My dad, Pastor Gary Cate, has been the pastor of the Collinsville Baptist Tabernacle for 40 years. He has made the decision that this will be his last year to serve the church. His last Sunday to preach will be June 29, 2014.
I was wondering if there was anyway to get this on the Collinsville website a week or two before his last service.

This is the announcement that he gave the church:
On July 1st, I will have pastored the Collinsville Baptist Tabernacle for four decades. Today, I am announcing that I will be retiring this summer. We ask that you pray for God's will concerning our next pastor, assistant pastor and secretary. This morning's message was, "The Voice of Thanksgiving." I raise my voice in thanksgiving to our Lord Jesus Christ for the privilege and joy of being your pastor for the last forty years. It has been a wonderful experience. Jeanne and I thank you for your love, loyalty and friendship. I close with Paul's words to the Thessalonians: "Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father."

Thank you, Tiffany Cate (6/1/2014)
Chamber of Commerce Free Summer Movie Series Continues
You don't have to get there real early (like ~7:15pm above) to get good seats ... but you can if you want. There was still plenty of space available in the plaza for the June 5th free outdoor showing of "The Nut Job" when it started about 9pm. The movie series presented by the Collinsville Chamber of Commerce continues each Thursday in June.
"Flat Screen" in this context is not a new television set but instead the portable rear projection movie screen before it was inflated for the movie at city plaza.
On you way to and from the free movies (at 12th & Main) please check out the many and varied businesses in Historic Downtown Collinsville.
Previous Coverage

FYI ... if you missed them somehow ... the storm sirens sounded in Collinsville about 10:45pm Thursday June 5th ... with a possible tornado north of us near Talala having an uncertain path southward. The warning was soon downgraded and we just had another good rain. The Chamber's free outdoor movie (which finally started ~9pm) was also cut a bit short by the approaching lightning and rain. -- Ted
