This 2 vehicle accident (by the S-curve) at 19th and Broadway occurred about 3:30pm Monday Feb. 26, 2007. I assume there were no injuries as I did not see EMS respond. -- Ted (My status is about a week old but the city-county-ODOT joint effort to "fix" the S-curve was stuck on getting ODOT to buy right-of-way all the way past the high school rather than just to the nursing home in the background of this photo).

The scrimmage was cancelled today but the CHS baseball team practiced then worked on field maintenance. They play Jenks (5pm March 2) and Miami (3pm March 3rd) at the Hilldale Festival. David Chester & Kevin Phillips practiced baseball today but hope to still be playing basketball this weekend and beyond. -- Ted 2/26

From Monday Feb. 26th, 2007 Tulsa World:
Jimmy Ray Burch, 48, of Collinsville died Sunday morning in a head-on traffic collision west of Claremore. The second vehicle driven by Jason Mearl Lower, 20, of Owasso was struck injuring Brianne Gulinson, 19, Collinsville, who was taken to an Owasso hospital, where she was listed in good condition. (Feb. 27th update: Burch was an IKG Industries welder, died Sunday in Tulsa. Service 2 p.m. Wednesday, Church of the Nazarene. Collinsville Funeral Home)
Ted, Just an FYI note. The boys basketball game between Berryhill and Collinsville at Choctaw should be called, "The Battle of Choctaw Mounds" as it is a Civil War because Berryhill's head coach is Coach Chronister's brother and Tyler Chronister's uncle. So it's brother against brother and uncle vs nephew this Thursday at 3pm. Or we can dub this game "Family Feud". Just an FYI and thanks Ted for your great coverage of our students. -- Cory Slagle Feb. 26th More Area Basketball Info:
Girls: If the Lady Cards beat Weatherford Friday they have earned a state tourney trip. If they lose they would have an additional Area game with the survivor of the Bishop McGinness-vs-Southeast and Perkins-Tryon-vs-Purcell games. If the CHS Boys lose they are done. If they win they could face Oologah or Wagoner, then McGuinness or SE.

Beware: I had a call this afternoon from someone claiming to be selling ads for the Collinsville High School football program. I checked with CHS Principal Cory Slagle and he confirmed that those ads are sold by the CHS cheerleaders later in the year and the call I received today was a scam. The caller said she had my contact information from a Chamber of Commerce listing. -- Ted Wright -- Feb. 19, 2007 3pm (I had a 2nd call and got more info this time: Emily claims to be working for Bill Rule at the high school to sell names on the footballs tossed out at the games (for $200-$300) for 5 months. Again a check with Cory Slagle and Bill Rule indicates this is an out of town solicitation with no benefit to the local school or football program. -- Ted 3:55pm)

OKWA Regional in Salisaw (Kid's Wrestling)
Ted-here is an update for the some of the kids that will be heading to kids state, in addition to the older boys already mentioned, in Tulsa this weekend. 6 & under: Walker Roberts. 8 & under: Nate Keim, Nick Sunday, Brannon Jordan, Justin Walker, Ryce Haymaker, and Sheaffer Smith. 10 & Under: Zach Seller, Pete Flippo, William Steltzlen, Wyatt Jordan and Steve Allen. 12 & Under: Dylan Helm, Gary Harding and Newt Salisbury.
I know for sure we won the team trophy for 8 & under and am pretty sure we won team trophies for 10 & under and 12 & under. Also, I am only mentioning in the above names the kids that actually go to school in Collinsville. There are actually 47 kids total going to kids state that wrestle with Collinsville wrestling club! They come to Collinsville from all over the Tulsa area to wrestle with the best youth coaches, West Harding and Mike Keim. Good Luck at State!! (Feb. 11, 2007)
