The state of Collinsville's ambulance vehicles (with two units out of service) was the lead story on Channel 6 TV's 5pm news Wednesday (Aug. 23). City Manager Pam Polk was interviewed and said a new ambulance should be here in 10 to 14 days. An administrator for the Regional EMS service indicated Collinsville had already been "non-compliant" since 1 ambulance went down in January and should have addressed the problem before the 2nd unit went down Saturday (Aug. 19th). -- Ted

Ted,
My family is trying to raise money for my 4 year old nephew Treiton the son of Matthew and Janelle Carpenter of Collinsville. Treiton was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma on July 25, 2006. We are hosting a softball tournament at the Collinsville City Park Labor Day weekend, with the fee of $100 for each team to participate. We just started planning yesterday and would really like to get the word out around town. I know the good people of Collinsville will help them out as much as they can. Treiton and his family are currently in Memphis, TN for his treatment, which is experimental. They are expected to be there for at least 2 to 3 months. Matt and Janelle are unable to work and we are trying to help pay for their monthly bills and medical bills that have already started coming in from Saint Francis Hospital. Thank you for your help! -- Carrie Brasel -- Aug. 3, 2006 -- (Tournament Registration Form)
A fund has been set up at Arvest Bank under the name Treiton Lewis-Carpenter. Donations will be used to help pay his medical bills from St Francis, along with house payment, car payments, etc... that the family has to keep up with while they are away at St. Jude for treatment. [8/9/2006 update: The account is open, but you MUST tell them it is for a TRAGEDY FUND in Treiton’s name. They can’t look it up on the computer by his name, but they have a file at the Arvest next to Braums in Owasso. -- Tracey Jarrard]
