The City of Collinsville received notice today of approval of their $160,000 recreational trails program grant application (made back in January) for the city park. The grant require a 20% city match. Word has not yet been received on another grant application made at the same time for other improvements in the park. Frances Mae Worstell Downing lost her battle with cancer on June 22, 2011, passing at home. A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 2, in Kona, Hawaii. Details to follow later regarding the establishment of a memorial fund. The June 11th Hogs and Hot Rods event is coming along fine but volunteers are needed! Anyone who would like to volunteer can contact Maureen Wright at the CDI office 918.371.5530. We need folks to help out in the following ways: Event Set-up, Car/Motorcycle Registration, Volunteer Check-In, Vendor Check-in, Traffic Control, Hospitality Suite, Hospitality Suite, Trash Patrol, Raffles, and Tee Shirt Sales. Volunteers will get their free tee shirt on the day of the event.

We are having our final uniform fitting and walk in sign up on Thursday June 9th 5:30pm-8:00 pm at the Middle School Gym. Mr. Wright, My daughters’ girl scout troop is participating in welcoming the WWII veterans home after their Honor Flight on Wednesday, June 8th at 10pm at the Tulsa Airport in the baggage claim area. If anyone wants to join in and welcome the veterans home, make banners, carry flags or something, I’m sure they would love to have them. The Tulsa Homeschool band will be there.
