Nancy Phelps would like to
thank the approximately 50 Collinsville volunteers who responed
to a call to help with little or no explanation of what they
would be doing Sunday morning. Today's (sign posting for
an event sponsor) activity was not quite what was anticipated
nor directly linked to this worthy cause: an Extreme
Makeover in Dewey, OK. -- Ted 11am Sunday Jan.

If you have
information on anyone setting grass fires please contact the Collinsville
Police Department. Also, please do not block roadways near these
many fires that might impede emergency workers. These fires are
putting people, property and occupations at risk. Please be careful.
There are many more fires that I have not reported on here. -- Ted

While
we deal with drought and grass fires in Oklahoma, the California
Collinsville has too much rain (Link):
"About 3 p.m. Sunday, the waves pounding the
levee 15 feet from Collinsville homes got so high that firefighters
stopped sandbagging and told all the residents to seek higher ground
in case the levee gave way." -- Ted 1/7/2006 |
