I
just wanted to let everyone know that my son Jimmy Jensen and his
wife Tessa will be here for a few days this next week from Iraq.
We are looking forward to their homecoming and can't wait to see
them. They are going to go to Wilson Elementary to visit Mrs. Caudill's
class. This 2nd grade class adopted Jimmy and sent him lots of things
that he needed. They will also be visiting a 1st grade class that
sent them things also. We are so grateful for everyones prays. Everyone
was praying for their safe return and for that we are very grateful.

Many parking
areas on Main were cleared today by city crews and a portion of
13th Street (between the Library and Baptist Church) was cleared
of ice later Thursday with temps above freezing temporarily. - Jan
18th, 2007 |
Just
a quick update on my daughters:
Samantha said she had to chip about a quarter inch of ice off her
car in Austin, TX Tuesday but the roads cleared quickly. Her first
day of art classes at Univ. of Texas had been cancelled due to their
ice storm. Got word from Emily Wednesday that she was back from
her 3-hr inter-session "course" (a trip to the Galapagos
Islands on the equator off the west coast of South America). She
had missed the first day of regular classes at the Univ. of Miami
due to the trip but she gets no sympathy for her nice warm weather.
She said her trip was incredible and hopes to organize her photos
and share soon. She did have to read two books, take a test, and
journal her activities on the Galapagos trip.-- Ted Wright -- Thursday

As I have watched
several folks continue to try and park nose down in diagional parking
on Main Street and get stuck ... wanted to remind you unless you
have chains or 4-wheel drive you are better off parking parallel
to the curb if possible until the sleet/ice is cleared. The city
is working on downtown parking areas but still plenty to go. --

mid-day update (Jan. 15) -- Sun is out today and I'll up my

I
had hoped to find a more positive Collinsville related story to
commerate the passing of former President Gerald Ford but this
1976 threat is best I have found. There was no Collinsville mention
at all of a presidential change in August 1974 as there was no
local vote or death to report and the Nixon speech occured as
the ink was drying on the just printed weekly issue. There was
no mention the following week either. I did notice that Ron McHenry
was Collinsville's head football coach during Ford's presidential
term. I was a recent OU graduate working in Tulsa. -- Ted Wright
