Cardinals Had Improved 2nd Half
Friday Softball Update: The girls won the 1st game today beating Vinita 3-1. Abby Miller started out pitching but took a hard hit to the arm while batting (possible fracture). Kylie Cole came in to pitch this game as well as the entire game with Claremore Sequoyah. We played them for the championship but lost 2-1 in the 10th inning. We were losing 0-1 and in the 6th inning Miriah McElroy hit a homerun to tie it up. We fought hard every inning but in the bottom of the 10th they had a runner on 2nd and a hard hit to the right side scored the winning run for Sequoyah. The girls should be proud, they played their hearts out and never gave up! -- Missy Delozier -- 9-28-2007 10:30pm
Thursday Update: The girls lost the 2nd game to Claremore Sequoyah 4-1. They play today at 12:30 against Vinita. Loser goes home ... winner plays Claremore Sequoyah at 2:00 for the championship. We'd have to beat them twice to go to State. -- Missy Delozier -- 9-28-2007 am

Cvilleok.com Editorial: I was a surprised today to see the local newspaper (my compeititor) come out in favor of increasing sales taxes for the entire county for a river project far from Collinsville and most other county residents. I don't object to the project, just the way it is being funded. The Jenks Riverwalks project (which the rest of the county didn't have to pay for) is cited as an example of why we should help Tulsa pay for their own development. A new tax here is likely the only way Collinsville will ever have a usable swimming pool again. Taxes will continue (or be raised) to keep building Collinsville classrooms to keep up with school growth here. Other taxes may be required soon for other Collinsville maintenance, protection and growth issues. Taxpayers have a limit in how much more they will tolerate. Given a choice, I would rather pay my taxes for specific Collinsville uses than pay for Tulsa improvements and hope for a potential trickle down benefit. I challange the claimed 9000+ new jobs as a typical pre-election claim. I treat it the same as the Vision 2025 pre-election listing of funds for "low water dams on the Arkansas River" that we are now told were just for "studies" not actually building anything. I was in favor of Vision 2025 and 4-to-fix the county votes as they at least had token Collinsville projects. I have little confidence in either the City of Tulsa or the County after recent suspicious changes at the County?/City? Fairgrounds in Tulsa. As with most scams the kicker is usually when you are told that "you must decide now as the offer will not be available later" ... with millions of developer dollars being waived as a carrot before voters with a lack of solid information on who will really benefit from our tax dollars. Vote NO Oct. 9th for Collinsville to have a chance to make it's own improvements. -- Ted Wright -- 9-26-2007 -- 4pm
Collinsville Sales Tax Comparisons

Feb-July 2007 Distribution Reports
While studying the July 2007 sales tax reports ... I was stunned to find what looks like Tulsa County collecting 35% of all of the county sales tax collected in the entire state of Oklahoma! ($7.5 million out of $21.2 million). Oklahoma County, Cleveland County, etc... the major counties around OKC do not collect county taxes if I'm intrepreting the report correctly? -- Ted 1am Thursday
The driver of this vehicle is sitting up with his head bandaged after crossing the center median and then southbound lanes of Highway 169 Wednesday (Sept. 26th) just before 2pm. The CHS JV Football team won their 4th game of the season (Sept. 24th) with a come from behind 16-12 win over Claremore Sequoyah. After falling behind 12-0 in the first half due to some kicking game problems the Cardinals stormed back in the second half with some dominating defense and two scoring drives to take the led. Kyle Crutcher scored both Cardinal touchdowns and Collinsville was able to convert both extra points for the difference. -- Jim Riley 9-25-2007

The 7th grade Football team won a hard fought defensive battle with Oologah 6-0. Newt Salisbury scored the Cardinal TD on a 1 yrd run. The 8th graders lost 8-6 for the second straight week. The Cardinal 8th graders had a TD pass called back and dropped another pass in the end zone. The 9th grade lost their annual battle with Oologah 36-16. Cardinal mistakes where the difference in this game. The Cardinal JV Football team moved their record to 2-0 with a 10-0 whipping of Catoosa on Monday. Steven Majike nailed a 38 yard field goal in the second period to give Collinsville a 3-0 lead. The Cardinal defense smothered Catoosa for very little if any yards and it looked like the 3 points would hold up for the win.
