Main Street Community Followup |
Ted, I appreciate your coverage of the fire this afternoon at Scoops & Grinds, however I think the real story was what happened after the fire was out. It was amazing to me to see how the Main Street community came together to help Chris and Judy. Within an hours time Tharyn Nachtigall had graciously opened the doors to his newly renovated building next door and allowed them to move their freezers in to be plugged in to save the ice-cream. James Roderick on the board of Collinsville Downtown Inc. had already arranged for a 220 generator to be delivered should they need to power the freezers. It was amazing to watch as members of CDI (Preston Haley) and even police officers were right there pitching in to get the freezers moved and salvaging as much as they could. Judy has been working so hard for weeks preparing for Hogs 'N' Hot Rods making the homemade ice-cream it was heartbreaking to think that it was all going to melt. The Collinsville Mainstreet community is just that. A real community, willing to help one another and fill the needs of those within it. I am proud to be a part of Main Street and equally proud to have my business in downtown Collinsville. I am sending pictures of the aftermath from my phone. I hope you will share the real story of what makes Collinsville the stand up community that it is. Sherry Campbell, Owner All Dolled Up Bridal & Tuxedo (6/9/2011) |
