Hotel-Motel Tax / Re-Vote On ONG /
ECC Character Kids / Girls Scouts Collecting Items For Animal Shelter

PRESS RELEASE -- Oct. 9, 2007

The City of Collinsville has planned a special meeting to be held October 10, 2007, for the Commission to consider a resolution to hold an election to establish a hotel motel tax for the purpose of enhancing economic development and further improving the quality and lifestyle of the citizens of Collinsville.

In addition, the City will consider calling another election for the citizens to consider granting a franchise to Oklahoma Natural Gas Company. Although this issue overwhelmingly passed in the September 11, 2007 election, there was some question about the adequacy of the legal notice of the election. To protect the taxpayers and assure that the franchise and long-term relationship with ONG is never questioned by an election contest, the city attorney has recommended that the question be presented to the citizens of Collinsville a second time.
The City is reviewing election procedures to assure that all future elections have proper legal notice and is working with ONG to ensure that the new election proceeds promptly and efficiently.

Girl Scouts / Animal Shelter
Our Girl Scout troop, Troop #36, is working on our Bronze Award and for our project we are helping with the Collinsville Animal Shelter. We are going to be collecting items needed for the shelter from the public through the month of November. We have created a flier, which I have attached, that we will be handing out to the public during Petpalooza on Sunday. We wondered if you would be able to put something on your website about it also.

Thank you,
Kelly Overholt (10-5-2007)
Construction on Main Street Beautification (the TEA-21 Project) could begin as soon as Nov. 2007. The opening of the new Broadway Bridge is nearing. Check back for detail. -- Ted 10/9/2007
