8/31/2007 Collinsville Animal Shelter Status & Thank You's from Susan Babbitt
We are on the fast track for completion of the new Collinsville Animal Shelter. The shelter is a joint project of The City of Collinsville and The Friends of the Collinsville Animal Shelter (FOCAS). FOCAS officers are:Marlene Spicer: President, Matt Babbitt: Vice President, Donna Alcorn: Treasurer, and Marie Johnson: Secretary. Anne Stribling is our CPA and helped FOCAS obtain a 501 (c) (3) status. We work with The City Commission, Pam Polk, Collinsville City Manager and all the City employees.

There are so many people involved in this three year project who FOCAS would like to recognize during the next few weeks.

Bob Osborne has consulted with us on a daily basis. In many instances companies provided the labor and FOCAS purchased the materials. Those companies are Mid-Continent Concrete Company, Lafarge North America, A.P. Concrete, Inc., Bill's Backhole and Dozer, Beck Plumbing Company, Bill Basore Trucking, Steele Service Building Co, G.R. Duncan Masonry, Security Pest Control, Heritage Construction, Graber and Associates, Hughes Lumber, N-D-N Waterproofing and Restoration,Inc., RCB Bank, and Ostrander's Furniture and Appliance.

Overholt Heating and Air will donate the heating and air systems for the shelter. Mike Clark, Scoreboard Sports and Awards will donate the plaques and printing that will be used to thank, honor and memorialize our donors and FOCAS members, Collinsville Veterinary Hospital and Eastside Veterinary Hospital have consulted with us and helped in more ways than can be listed. The volunteers who have helped will be listed in the next article. You are more than welcome to join FOCAS as a member.

We have sold gate # 12 to James and Chera Hereford in memory of their family pet, "Get Back JoJo" and # 13 in memory of the Babbitt Family pet, "Einstein". Still time to purchase #14 to name for your family, pet, or business. Next naming fund raiser will be for cat condos.

We are searching for the best name for our Shelter. If you have suggestions email Susan Babbitt sbabbitt@swbell.net. You can use that same email for a membership form.

Remember to eat early and often at Chick-fil-A on Thursday, September 6 from 5:00-8:00pm.20% of their sales will benefit the shelter. Collinsville High School Cardinals in Action and FOCAS members will be on hand to greet you. You will know us by our FOCAS t-shirts, holding a FOCAS mug and carrying our FOCAS key chains. Ya'll come.

We are projecting an shelter opening party on December 1, 2007.
20% of Owasso Chick-Fil-A meal receipts from 5-8pm Thursday Sept. 6th will be donated to the Collinsville Animal Shelter.
