2011 Collinsville had many strong candidates for top story of the year
but I have selected the major rennovation of the S-Curve and the 5A
State Championship for the CHS Wrestlers to highlight.
The year shook Collinsville with earthquakes and extreme snow, cold,
heat & drought. Alice Wilder received national teacher recognition
while Chance Riley helped his college team to a Division II football
national championship. The city suffered the loss of many fine citizens
to accidents & illness & war in 2011. The high school started
fall classes on schedule after storm damage the day before school. Logan
Shaw's signing to play college wheelchair basketball
is my top comeback story. A new city jail, the anchor Quik Trip store
at Highway 75/20 position Collinsville for future opportunities along
with many other improvement projects (including the completion of the
phase II streetscape)..
