All-State Softball: Marysa Trost
CHS Softball Senior Marysa Trost has been named to the 2012 All-State Softball Team.
Coach Arlin Stacy XC Recognition
Arlin Stacy has been selected as Region 7 Cross Country Coach of the Year. Coach Stacy has coached the CHS girls cross country team since the Collinsville program started in 2007. His teams have placed 5th, 10th, 1st, 2nd & 2nd at the state meets.
CHS Senior Logan Shaw signed a letter of intent with the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) today at CHS. Logan will receive a scholarship to play wheelchair basketball as well an academic scholarship for his business studies. Logan has been wheelchair bound since an accident about 4 years ago and for the past 3 years has played wheelchair basketball for the Tulsa Jammers in the National Wheelchair Junior League.
Logan Shaw was joined at the signing Wednesday by UTA Coach Doug Garner (seated left) and several family members including Mom Melissa Ryan and Dad Quinn Shaw.
These friends joined Logan for a signing photo but there was a room full of others who crowded into the CHS Commons to wish their classmate well in his future endeavor.
Channel 6 TV (KOTV) had a camerman at CHS to cover the signing as they are working on a story about Logan to air later this month.-->
In these photos from a May 2010 wheelchair basketball fundraiser event at Collinsville High School, Logan easily dribbled past and shot over his CHS classmates and teachers who were less experienced in the special sports wheelchairs.
In May 2008 Logan's middle school friends held a "Laps for Logan" fundraiser to help with his medical expenses. Logan was seriously injured in a go-cart / auto collision August 2007. Logan reported today (Nov. 9, 2011) that he is healthy now and just goes for an annual checkup provided by the Shriners. Logan and his mother credit the Shriners for getting him back on track (physically and emotionally) after the accident with a sports camp being the turning point in his recovery.
