2006 Collinsville
Tri-County Fair Days
August 24-27
Family Department -
Come join the fun at the Collinsville Tri-County Fair this week. Family Department entries will be received in the Veterans' Building, 9th and Main, Thursday evening, 5-7 p.m. The four areas of competition include: Fine Art, Antiques, Photography and Quilts. The Fair Premium Book gives additional details, which are available at area banks and the library.

Antique Area - For the first time, the Antique area will be set up in the main room of the Veterans' Building, allowing us additional space to display your cherished entries. Note there will be two secured display cases for valued items of interest. We especially need heirloom quilts this year. It is helpful to include some history of your quilt on a 3 x 5 card. Special care will be taken to preserve these quilts (no cooking or smoking in the building this year). Consult the Fair book as there are sixty-two areas of competition. We look forward to seeing your treasured items.

Fine Art Area - Youth are encouraged to bring their artwork as well as our talented adults. In the past, we've had a good representation of artwork on display for fair visitors, but we need your entries Thursday evening.

Photography - We have many talented photographers in our area as this hobby has increased in popularity in recent years. There are categories for traditional camera pictures as well as for digital photography.

Quilts - We have lots of space this year to display all of our quilted items. We urge you to bring your best work for judging. If you have more than one item in a category, bring that item as we may have room for a 'display only' area. As always, special care will be taken with all of our exhibits (no smoking or cooking will take place in the building).

Pie Baking Contest - Attention area pie bakers! A new event has been added this year. Bring your best homemade pie for judging on Saturday, 9:30 a.m., in the Veterans' Building. Ribbons and awards will be presented immediately after the 10 a.m. judging. Consult the Fair Premium book for details. Come be a part of this tasty event!

In the past, our attendance has greatly decreased. Throughout the year, the Fair Board along with many volunteers contribute their time and effort to continue this annual event. Won't you take an interest by visiting the Family Department during Tri-County Fair days this week? We look forward to seeing you. Doors open late Friday morning. Saturday hours are from 9 to 5, when entries will be released.
