L. Hugh Hardie, age 81 passed away in Chillicothe MO on December 23, 2005. He was born on May 12, 1924, the son of Hugh and Flora Hardie in Sperry OK. He was the youngest of ten children. Hugh was a 1942 graduate of Sperry High School and served as a radarman first class in the Navy during World War II. He married Mary Malone on Aug 18 1946. He received his BS and MS degrees from Oklahoma State University. Hugh taught Vo-Ag from 1949 to 1968 in Oklahoma towns of Delaware, Sperry and Collinsville. He founded the Ag Business department at Crowder College in Neosho Missouri. Hugh was passionate about education and genealogy. He was a mason in Collinsville and a 50 year member of the VFW in Oklahoma.

Survivors include his two sisters June and Elsie and his children Jane Ann, Hugh D., and Joe. Mary preceded him in death.
A memorial has been established in his name to support a scholarship for the FFA. Contributions can be sent to Hugh D. Hardie, Rt 2 Box 225-16, Sperry OK 74073.
