CHS Football At Skiatook
Cardinals Won 27-25 For Highway 20 Trophy & Home Playoff Game
QB Kolten Allphin (#1) got the ball out despite the Skiatook pass rush for a completion to Gage Tacker (below) in the Cardinal's opening possession.
Gage Tacker (#84) pulled down this Allphin pass fo 6 yards out to the 46 yard line, but the drive stalled with two motion penalities and Jake Bays punted down to Skiatook's 17. A Skiatook 3 and out and punt to their own 45 set up Collinsville's first score (below).
Gage Tacket (#84) battles one defender while Braden Gilkey (#42) reaches the endzone in a pile behind them. This put Collinsville up 7-0 after Ashton Jones' extra point kick at 4:29 in the first quarter.
Nate Wilkins (#32) deflected this Skiatook pass attempt resulting in an incompletion in Skiatook's second offensive series.
Caden Buoy (#4) prevented a completion on this Skiatook first quarter pass to the endzone.
Kolten Allphin (#1) scored Collinsville second touchdown from 3 yards out at 5:07 in the second quarter. Ashron Jones kicked the extra point (below) for a 14-0 score.
Payton Stacy (#24) and Caden Buoy (#4) prepare to slow Skiatook's punt coverage to protect Eli Benham (#10) waiting for a second quarter punt in the background.
Collinsville was called for pass interference on this play setting up Skiatook's first score early in the 3rd quarter (at the Cardinal 17). Unless there was something early in the route, it seems an odd call as there was no contact as the pass arrived.
The Cardinal defenders made stops at the 5 yard, 2 yard and 1 foot line before Skiatook finally scored with 10 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. The extra point kick was wide leaving the score at 14-6.
Collinsville muffed the Skiatook kickoff and set them up for a second score (a 3 yard TD run at 7:34 in the 3rd) which moved them closer at 14-12. Skiatook completed a pass on the PAT try but it was out of bounds..
Buoy & Stacy defensive stop.
Eli Benham (#10) returned the Skiatook kickoff out to the 34 with the score at 14-12 in the 3rd quarter.
The Cardinal offensive needed to shift the momentum back after two quick 3rd quarter Skiatook scores, and they did that with a quick drive capped by Brayden Gilkey (#42) below.
Brayden Gilkey (#42) followed his blockers and then sprinted 37 yards for a Collinsville TD at 5:47 in the 3rd quarter. Ashton Jones kiched the extra point for a 21-12 score. -- (Video)
Kolten Allphin (#1) batted this Skiatook pass attempt away but the Bulldogs continued on a 63 yard drive to score as the 3rd quarter time expired. Their PAT kick was wide (below) and the score was 21-18 with a full quarter remaining.
Skiatook attempted an onside kick (with the score 21-18) but it failed to travel 10 yards and Collinsville started the 4th quarter in Skiatook territory.
Kolten Allphin (#1) hopped into the endzone from the 6 (after four Gilkey rushes) to give Collinsville some margin at 27-18 and 9:57 left in the game. Jones' PAT kick attempt was wide. A deadball Skiatook personal foul on the extra point play let Collinsville kickoff from Skiatook's 45. Collinsville attempted an onside kick but Skiatook recovered at their own 35, but they lost it on the next play (below).
Eli Benham recovered this Skiatook fumble at the Bulldog 33 with 9:28 left in the game.
In previous years this would have been a "highlight reel" moment, but with a new rule this year Kolten Allphin (#1) was penalized for his effort as "hurdling" is no longer allowed at the high school level. Collinsville eventually punted back to Skiatook (at their 17) and Skiatook drove for a score with 2 minutes left. With the score 27-25 Skiatook tried another onside kick but Collinsville covered and ran out the clock by taking a knee several times.
Collinsville already had possession of the Highway 20 Trophy (from last year's win) and will keep it in Colinsville for at least another year.

The Collinsville Band missed the Skiatook game while representing Collinsville in San Antonio at the Bands of America Super Regional.
