Collinsville,
Oklahoma
November 13, 2015 CHS Football -vs- Bishop Kelley |
The Collinsville Crimson Cadet Band was in uniform and on the field for the National Anthem but did not march at halftime.
On Collinsville first possession (following a Bishop Kelley punt to the Cardinal 30) Seth Boomer kept to the Cards 48 followed by a 52 yard TD scamper up the middle by Sheaffer Smith (above).
Cole
Hadley (#9) added the extra point for a quick 7-0 lead at 9:30 in the
first quarter.
|
|||||||||
The swarming Cardinal defense held the BK Comets in check most of the night holding to a single score in each half.
Collinsville second possession started after a Bishop Kelley punt to Collinsville's 45 yard line. Seth Boomer's pass to Brett Erickson reached the 41 and was followed by a Marcus Tillman run to the 13 yard line. Boomer's 13 yard pass (above) to Levi Draper (below) resulted in the second quick Cardinal score.
Levi Draper (#10) hauled in a 13 yard Seth Boomer touchdown pass at the 6:06 mark of the first quarter and Cole Hadley's kick put the score to 14-0.
Brandon Lowe (#2) almost came up with an interception after this BK pass was tipped away from the receiver by Tyler Forrest (#1) in the first quarter.
A
mobile Seth Boomer (#12) extended many plays with his footwork as he
searched for open receivers while dodging BK defenders.
|
|||||||||
Sheaffer Smith (#25) stretched to haul in this Boomer pass to mid-field but had the ball knocked loose at the BK 42 yard line with 1:42 left in the 1st quarter to end Collinsville's third possession.
Bishop Kelley had narrowed the gap at 14-7 with a 12 yard TD run with 3:37 left before half time but Collinsville answered with a 65 yard drive (keyed by a Seth Boomer pass to Brett Erickson above which reached the 6 yard line) and capped by Tillman's run (below)
Marcus Tillman (#24) ran in the 3rd Collinsville touchdown from 3 yard out with 37.6 second left in the first half. Hadley's extra point kick made the half-time score 21-7.
"The
Trap" aka the CHS student section was busy as usual supporting
the Cardinals.
|
|||||||||
Brett Erickson (#11) made a nice catch on this Boomer pass near the sideline in the 3rd quarter, but the Cardinal offense could not repeat their first half success and had to rely on the defense to preserve the playoff win.
There was disagreement if the Bishop Kelley receiver had stepped out of bounds before this catch and run down to Collinsville's 3 yard line and score on the next play at 6:10 in the 3rd quarter and a 21-14 tally.
The Cardinal defense came up huge in the 4th quarter as they held Bishop Kelly out of the end zone with goal line stands twice as BK was inches from tying the score.
I was hoping to get a clear shot of the measurement on the last 4th down stop but Roc Robbins anticipated the result and began the celebration ... with plenty of chain past the ball signifying the ball was back in Cardinal hands to run out the final minute.
Collinsville will travel to Lawton Mac next Friday for a second round contest against the team that ended the Cardinals season last year in the second round. (OSSAA 5A Bracket) -- Also in the 2nd round are Skiatook hosting Deer Creek, Bishop McGuinness hosting McAlester, Coweta hosting Altus.
