We are an active part of the communities we serve because they are the places we call home. The members we serve live, work and play in the lush rolling hills of northeastern Oklahoma.

Headquartered in Collinsville, Oklahoma, VVEC is a distribution electric cooperative. We provide electric service to residential, commercial and industrial consumers through more than 32,000 meters and more than 4,500 miles of electric line in portions of Nowata, Osage, Rogers, Tulsa and Washington counties.

Among the 26 electric cooperatives operating in Oklahoma, VVEC is the third largest based on the number of meters served by the co-op. Ninety-two employees cover the Cooperative’s more than 3,200-square mile service territory daily maintaining the electric system and providing consumer-oriented service.

13) Assistant Superintendent's Report. -- Lance West reported on these topics:
* The Pepsi (10 year) contract will expire at end of July. A meeting was held with Pepsi to start negotiations on a potential renewal and Coke has been asked for a bid also.
* The chilling tower at the Middle School suffered frozen pipes during the recent (long-term) freezing temperatures. The tower had been replaced (April 2009) and upgraded following a similar problem in Dec. 2008. The company in charge of maintaining the upgraded tower has provided documentation that the tower (& new tower heater to prevent freezing of fluids in the tower) was functional Nov. 25th when last serviced. An insurance claim is being processed. The classroom heating at the middle school is not impacted but would impact air conditioning later in the year if not fixed by then.
* cost cutting efforts are being implemented where possible including no overtime and no non-essential work/repairs.

14) Superintendent's Report. -- Terry Due reported on these topics:
* School missed 3 days the first week of 2010 (1 for road conditions and the last two primarily for extremely low temperatures compounded by high wind chills). The primary concern for the extreme temperatures was the youngest children on bus routes.
* Reduced state fundng for schools continues to be major concern with $257 less so far this school year and projected to $536 for full year at current reduction rates ...but the rates coul get worse and potentially a million dllars less for the year locally. Federal stimulus dollars have buffered the problem somewhat but will be gone by July 2010. Collinsville schools are in much better shape than many schools which could face more serious shortages.

* Saving the jobs of existing school employees is highest priority.
* Examples of future cost cutting techniques being investigated:
-- cutting back on night custodial crews
-- teachers aids (not special ed)
-- Fewer bus stops to save fuel
-- not filling vacated jobs which might increase student/teachr ratios
-- survival bond issue (text books, heat & air, etc ... not buildings)

15) Announcements. -- Chamber Banquet Jan. 16th
16) New Business: (if any, of an emergency nature or that was not known at the time the agenda was posted). -- none
17) Adjournment.
This notice being given and displayed by the authority of the School Board of Independent District, I-6, acting by and through the undersigned.
