We are an active part of the communities we serve because they are the places we call home. The members we serve live, work and play in the lush rolling hills of northeastern Oklahoma.

Headquartered in Collinsville, Oklahoma, VVEC is a distribution electric cooperative. We provide electric service to residential, commercial and industrial consumers through more than 32,000 meters and more than 4,500 miles of electric line in portions of Nowata, Osage, Rogers, Tulsa and Washington counties.

Among the 26 electric cooperatives operating in Oklahoma, VVEC is the third largest based on the number of meters served by the co-op. Ninety-two employees cover the Cooperative’s more than 3,200-square mile service territory daily maintaining the electric system and providing consumer-oriented service.

January Is School Board Recognition Month
Jan. 13, 2010

The month of January marks the annual observance of School Board Recognition Month - a time to salute the work of school board members and celebrate public education. The theme of this year's celebration, "School Boards Lead Strong", reflects our combined commitment to leadership and accountability assuring that ALL children succeed. In Collinsville Public Schools, school board members must develop policies and make tough decisions on complex educational and social issues impacting the entire community. They bear responsibility for an annual budget of $17 million, 2612 students, 300 employees and 5 campuses. They carry out the truest form of representative government in our democracy -- volunteer public service and preserve the core of our democratic land - public education.

Too often we neglect to recognize the dedication and hard work of these men and women who represent us. I invite you to recognize the work of your school board members. Invite them for coffee. Ask how you might help support your local neighborhood schools. Write your school board members a thank you note. Let them know you appreciate what they do for kids in Collinsville. The men and women serving Collinsville Public Schools and their years of service are: President Donna Sears - 19 years, Vice President Wendell Johnson - 13 years, Clerk Memory Ostrander - 5 years, Member Joe Hampton - 23 years, and Member Steve Stout - 3 years.

Sincerely,
Terry Due
