14) Assistant Superintendent's Report: (Terry Due reported that changes to bus driver's pay are being considered due to comparisons with other schools and difficulty hiring drivers. He also reported that the contractors still say they will have both the middle and high school construction projects completed in time for start of fall classes. The new middle school parking lot (where the annex building/Central Grade School building was just removed) will be a gravel lot initially to match the schedule of likely help from Tulsa County for more permanent paving material later.
15) Superintendent's Report:
...a) Comp time payments for FY2005. -- the board approved
one time salary adjustment of $750 for Judy Herald and $1776 for Pat Sunday
as State Law won't allow that time to roll-over to the new fiscal year.
...b) Professional Development Points Update. -- 1 teacher
will be given a last opportunity to gain the final 7 1/2 points (of 75 points
required in a 5 year period) or be denied a $500 stipend normally given at
the start of school year to be applied towards gaining those points. Mr. Herald
indicated this is only the 2nd time in his 20 years that a teacher had not
gained their points on schedule.
16) Announcements.
Pat Herald
indicated the school would not be taking an official position on the city's
upcoming gas franchise vote (in August) but promised that he would have a
more precise figure for the potential change in ad valorum tax to the schools
from ONG -vs- if the city were the gas supplier. He did estimate that the
total figure from ONG now, is in the range of $50,000/yr and about half of
that would remain unchanged as the city limits don't match the school district
boundaries (i.e. ONG will still be paying outside the city limits). And of
the other portion (within city limits) possibly half of that might still be
coming to the school also. Pat indicated that figure would be available at
the next school board meet (July 11).
6/28 update: Per a phone call from Mayor Stan Sallee (based on info from the Tulsa County Assessors Office): the total 2004 ONG amount paid associated with property in the city limits was approximately $18,000. And that included amounts paid to other entities. The 2004 ONG tax paid to Collinsville Schools was $10,900 based on assets in the city limits. Check back soon for a more complete set of questions and answers on the city gas franchise question. -- Ted |
