Chamber Luncheon Meet
At Veterans Building
Lance West Spoke

Collinsville School Superintendent Lance West spoke on these (& more) topics:
* ~2800 students in Collinsville Public Schools ... up just a bit ... senior class will be ~200 in size
* Jennipher Keim moving from Wilson to HS as assistant principal
* Chris Bilyeu will be Wilson (6th grade/Alt) principal
* Brad Cantrell will be athletic director (with assistants for other activities)
* Inflatable sound shells for HS gym concerts
* Mark Hamilton is back (teaching science again) + several other hires & re-assigns
* Moving counselors more in direction of mental health professionals
* In good shape financially (less stress than some years before)
* More Chromebooks in more classrooms (1 to stay, not 1 to 1)
* Security summit gave ideas for simple improvements (more fences and buzz-in entry at HS for example)
* May hire 2nd retired police office for additional security
* New intercom at HS
* More fences at Sallee Field
* Construction road at CUE will eventually help dropoff - pickup at elementaries (next year)
* Year of construction has begun: more classrooms, band building, vo-ag building
* virtual lab - can check out "lessons"
* More work-study opportunities for commercial trades -- need local businesses to help
* Thankful for community support

* Teacher appreciation breakfast is Aug. 14th (Megan could use a few volunteers)

* Support Collinsville Tri-County Fair Aug. 23-24-25
* Taste of Collinsville Sept. 20th (3rd Thurs. 5:30-8:30pm)
* Congressman Bridenstine's office is still open & operating (although he has moved on to NASA) according to Brian O'Hara, Deputy District Director in that office.
