All persons interested in attending the Special Scheduled School Board Meeting for Collinsville Public Schools, Independent District I-6, should make plans to attend the meeting at the following date, time and place to wit:

The following items will appear on the agenda at the above scheduled meeting to wit:
NOTE: The Board of Education may discuss, vote to approve, vote to disapprove, vote to table or decide not to vote on any item on this agenda.

1) Call to Order and Roll Call of Members.

2) Record of Members Present and Absent. -- Present (Stout, Johnson, Oder) & Absent (Ostrander, Red)

3) Discussion to approve or disapprove, letter of recommendations from the construction manager of the bids from the Feb 6th bid opening for construction of the new upper elementary school. -- Approved, the school board accepted the winning bids (totaling $7,241,293) as recommended by Brewer Construction (project managers for the new upper elementary building). The 135 separete bids (for 28 different subcontract categories) had been opened Feburary 6th (see photos below). There was one case when the lowest bid wasn't selected as the next lowest bid offered to complete in ~half the time (masonary). The media center (alternate bid 1) was not acted on yet as it will be held until after the high school improvements bids are received (& bank financing set) to determine how much is available. Preparation of the site for construction could begin by March 1, 2014. Building permits were received from the city Feb. 18th. The project will include considerable ground work as bus loops (for Herald, ECC & the new building), detention ponds for improved drainage, etc... are included.

4) Bond Issue- Financial Update- Jordan Smith -- Jordan reported status from the city meeting the previous day (financial coordination with the Collinsville Economic Development Authority) as well as staus on expected banking bids that are due in a week (with a positive market so far). Smith expects all the financial details to be nailed down about a day after the bids are received and school board action at the next regular session as appropriate (March 10th).

5) Adjournment.

The School's Education Service Center was packed with subcontractors who had just delivered their bids and waited for them to be read .... some for about two hours Feb. 6th.

Chad Brewer (center) discused details of the new upper elementary (4th & 5th grade) building plans with Lance West and Steve Stout following the Feb. 19th school board special session.

Check back for more detail on the revised & new bus loops that should pull the current traffic backup issues off 129th and provide dropoff/pickup access to the three main buildings (ECC, Herald and the new upper elementary). The green highlighted area is the portion of the new elementary approved Feb. 19th. The small orange area is the alternate 1 bid area for the media center to be determined later.
