COLLINSVILLE,
OKLAHOMA PARK BOARD
Regular Meeting Agenda
September 17, 2013, 4:30 P.M.
City Hall Commission Chambers
106 N. 12th Street
1. Call to Order.
2. Roll Call. -- (Absent: Cheryl Hunt) + (Present: Eddie Tidwell, Adam Steidley, Glen Reaser, & Ted Wright)
3. Approval of Regular Meeting Minutes for July 16, 2013 Regular Meeting. -- Approved
4. Discussion
and possible action regarding placement of Art Sculpture in City Park. --
Tabled, pending further investigation on potential city cost to install
the steel sculpture to be donated by Wade Nachtigall (son of pharmacist
Tharyn Nachtigall). The 28 foot sculpture was last considered by a citizens
group for city use in March 2006.
The art work has been in storage for several years and would need to be
welded back together (3 pieces now). The park board was considering a possible
location near the west entrance to the park.
5. Discussion and possible action regarding Shade Structures. -- Approved a changed recommendation (from the previous plan to cover playground equipment) to instead focus on several smaller shade structures surrounding the playground equipment and splash pad. The two new nearby picnic shelters and further consideration of shading the structures in months other than summer were factors in the change of heart.
6. Update
on Park Projects. -- Among many topics briefly statused
by Phil Stowell:
* mowing has been main summer park staff activity
* Half of the new security camera system is up and running. An additional
pole for additional camera angles is anticipated soon.
* Some of the lighting hardware for the 1st portion of trail has arrived
& awaiting staff availability to install.
* Benches, tables and grills for the new picnic shelters have arrived and
are awaiting installation.
* East entrance (stone) sign did
not get bid from trail contractor ... will put out more generally later.
* The city commission approved the revised
city park ordinances Sept. 16th.
* Plan a signage sleeve for new picnic shelters reservations but the reservation
policy (& potential deposit) is still pending.
* No current status on any plans to improve bridge/pedestrian path from
19th Street to the park
* A new fence for the tennis courts is in the works (~$21K estimate)
7. Adjournment.
