The Collinsville band and cheerleaders entertained for a pep rally Friday (Sept. 14th) at CHS. The cheerleaders were also practicing for their first competetive cheer contest (Sat. Sept. 15th).
The Collinsville defense pushed this Oologah ball carrier back to the endzone in the second quarter but he was given forward progress out to the 3 yard line. Oologah had recovered a Cardinal fumble there after Collinsville had driven from their own 33 to the Oologah 4. The big play in that drive was a 43 yard pass from McElroy to Johnson.
Newt Salisbury (#66) applied pressure on this Oologah pass attempt. Oologah eventually moved out to their own 40 yard line late in the 2nd quarter. Dylan Cook then intercepted to set the Cards up at the Collinsville 40 with 1:27 left before the half.
This T. J. Johnson (#6) was ruled to have landed out of bounds with this catch with 1:03 left in the first half.
Keenan Hamilton (#20) and T.J. Johnson (#6) had key catches in the Cardinal drive just before halftime. Hamilton (left) had McElroy completions to the 35 & 10 yard line. Johnson (right) had the final 10 yard TD catch with 13.3 seconds remaining and the game's first points. T.J also had catches to the 48 and 21. Athen Shambrook's kick set the half time score at 7-0.
Colby Cole (#61) blocking for Conner Crutchfield (#11) running after taking the handoff from QB Zane McElroy (#4) early in the 3rd quarter.
Carter Rasmussen (#85 above) sacked the Oologah QB on 4th and 8 stopping an Oologah threat at the Card's 32 with 3:46 left in the 3rd quarter.
The Cardinal defense held Oologah out of the endzone except for this Oologah 4th down play (left) from the 5 yard line which tied the score at 7-7 with 8:28 left in the game
This Zane McElroy (#4) keeper reached the 7 yard line (from the 35) with 4:43 left in the tie game. Hunter West carries to the 2 and the 1 set up McElroy for the final 1 yard keeper TD with 3:16 left. Shambrook's kick was good and the Cardinals held on for a 14-7 win.
The Cardinals have now won their first the games of the season. They will host Claremore here Sept. 21st.
