This extra large group of CHS Seniors entered the field having never defeated Oologah. They left Oologah's field with a hard fought win giving the Cardinals a 9-1 record, 2nd place in District 4A-3, and a home playoff game next week -vs- Wagoner.
Oologah jumped out to a quick 7 point lead hitting an open receiver deep behind the Collinsville coverage on the game's opening possession.
Collinsvile drove into Oologah territory on their 1st possession but lost a fumble at the 39. The Cards stopped Oologah 3-and-out then drove the 2nd Cardinal possession down for the 5 yard Jared Billups (#4) TD run above at 6:29 in the 1st quarter. Kyle Crutcher's kick was good for a 7-7 tie. The scoring drive consisted of Kyle Rush and Jared Billups runs.
Oologah scored on their 3rd possession (on 4th & 4 from the 5) with 1 minutes left in the 1st quarter for a 7-14 lead.
Collinsville drove their 3rd possession from their own 18 to the Oologah's 1 yard line (above) with Merin Oakley (#30) covering that final yard (below) at 7:25 in the 2nd quarter. Crutcher's kick tied the score again at 14-all.
Kyle Crutcher (#3 left) kicking the 2nd of his 6 extra points on the evening plus a 4th quarter field goal accounting for 9 of the Cardinal's 45 points Friday. Cody Kite (#8) provided the snaps and Trey Blissit (#38) placed the ball for the kicks.
Oologah scored on their 4th possession (again on 4th down) with a 24 yard pass at 3:48 in the 2nd quarter for a 14-21 score.
This 2nd quarter Merin Oakley(#30 above) run with Collinsville down 14-21 was representative of the Cardinals determination as he lowered his head and ran over an Oologah defender to reach the Mustang 26 yard line.
Oologah drew a pass interference flag on this Lane Coulter pass attempt to Alex Goosen (#21) but it was waived off as the officials ruled the ball had been tipped before it arrived at the goal line less than a minute before half time.
I wish there were more of this photo to see where Alex Goosen's feet (or knees) were in relation to the back line of the endzone but the closer I am to a play the more likely I will miss part of the action. -- Ted
Alex Goosen (#21) caught this Lane Coulter pass in the back corner of the Oologah endzone but was ruled to have crossed a portion of the back endline. That left Collinsville with 4th & 10 from the 24 with 35.7 second left before halftime.
Dalton Rasmussen (#85) caught this 4th down 24 yard TD pass from Lane Coulter with less than 30 second left in the 1st half. Crutcher's kick tied the score at 21.21.
The Collinsville band did not march Friday but supported the Cardinals and fans with music from the stands.
Oologah's combined bands (beginners through high school) entertained at half time.
