Friday 9/2/2011 4:45pm Update: City Staff met with the Superintendent and Sign Supervisor of the road crew working on the S-curve this afternoon. The closure area slated for Wednesday September 7th was updated this afternoon to include the following:

Closure hours have changed to 8AM to 3PM on Wednesday September 7th

South bound traffic on 19th street beginning south of Broadway to south of Main will be closed.

North bound traffic on 19th street will remain open.

Please refer to the red zones depicted on map. The reasoning for the change is enhanced safety for motorists. It’s the city’s desire to keep larger vehicles such as semi trucks from being allowed to turn south off of Broadway onto 19th during this short closure period. The hours of closure were adjusted to allow maximum time for the work to be done while minimizing the interference with bus routes. The red sections of the map will be closed to traffic between the hours of 8AM – 3PM on Wednesday September 7th.

Thank you. Phil Stowell (Public Works Director, City of Collinsville Oklahoma) 918-371-1010 Extension 2028

Initial Detour Plan Scrapped
(This version modified by Friday update above)
The road crew that is working on the “S” curve will be closing a section of highway 20 from 9AM to 3PM on Wednesday September 7th. The crew has been placing sizeable concrete drainage pipe and are at the point of having to place pipe across highway 20 between 17th street and 18th street. Traffic will be routed around the work zone by detouring vehicles onto 17th Street off of Highway 20 (Main Street) to Broadway. North / South traffic on 19th street will be allowed but the remainder of the “S”curve will be closed. Please refer to the aerial.
The size of pipe requires large equipment to move and place, unfortunately the equipment will take up both lanes thus necessitating the re-routing of traffic. Every effort will be made to accomplish the task in a timely fashion. Thank you for your understanding and patience.
