School Board Leaders Honored
In January

Press Release from Collinsville Public Schools -- Jan. 4, 2008

"School Boards Make A World of Difference"

School Board Recognition Month, In January, is celebrated by 539 local and 29 Career Tech school districts in Oklahoma, as over 2700 elected school board members are honored by their schools and communities for untiring dedication to schools governance.

"The foundation of school leadership is ensuring equal learning opportunities for all students," says Superintendent Pat Herald. "We're proud of our district, and School Board Recognition Month is the time to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of our elected trustees."

In Collinsville Public Schools, school board members must develop policies and make tough decisions on complex educational and social issues impacting the entire community. They bear responsibility for an annual budget of $14.6 million, 2,410 students, 288 employees and 5 campuses.

"School Board members make decisions that affect 627,575 Oklahoma children and $3.8 billion in education expenditures," notes Herald. They preserve the core of our democracy -- public education.

It is my pleasure to extend this recognition to Collinsville Board members President Wendell Johnson, Vice President Joe Hampton, Clerk Donna Sears, Member Memory Ostrander and Member Steve Stout.
