Not the first CHS football win for Coach Lance West ... but the first in several years after being away from Collinsville since the 2000 season. West was head football coach in Collinsville for the 1996 - 2000 seasons. Rusty Poindexter was CHS head coach from 2001-2003 followed by Bob Craig 2004-2007.
The Cardinals and their fans celebrate following the 2008 win over Mannford (left).
Kyle Crutcher (#3) with the second half kickoff.
Kaleb Hamilton (#20) would have had a sack on the Mannford QB but got an intentional grounding penalty instead as the QB tossed the ball away in an attempt to avoid the sack early in the 3rd quarter.
Mannford fumbled but retained this 3rd quarter snap.
I don't know if Kyle Rush (#32) reached the ball on this punt block attempt the punt only reached the Mannford 49 after their initial 2nd half possession.
Dalton Rasmussen (#85) with another interception with 4:05 left in the 3rd quarter.
Lane Coulter (#7) had just avoided a sack then heaved a leaping pass which on target to a Cardinal receiver but a Mannford defender stepped in for an interception late in the 3rd quarter.
Collinsville was unable to get a punt off successfully just a few plays into the 4th quarter with Mannford taking over at the Cards' 20 yard line.
Mannford nearly scored on this play which was marked down about one foot from the goal on a 4th and goal (from the 19) with just under 8 minutes left in game.
After taking over just outside their own goal the Cardinals moved out to the 35 on carries by Kyle Rush, Jarred Billups (#4 above), and Dalton Salisbury. The drive stalled and two 4th down attempts (1 brought back by penalty) gave Mannford the ball at the 30 with 3:25 left in the game.
Kyle Crutcher (#3) made the final interception and moved it out to mid-field with 3 minutes left in the game. Collinsville fumbled later giving Mannford 1 more scoring opportunity but held on for the shutoff and their first win of the new season.
Looking ahead to Hilldale (& Skiatook) from Muskogee Phoenix -- 9/8/2008
