A few trees are the victim of progress as early preparation continues for the new bridge to allow Broadway to span Black Jack Creek again. I haven't heard any recent status but the initial plans had spring time construction for the bridge. (Previous Coverage)
I'm glad my phone still works after seeing this bundle of cut lines on the east side of the Broadway bridge site. I assume the lines were no longer in use as there was no activity there Wednesday.
Always keeping an eye on important city projects, this former city hall cat?, was checking out progress at the Broadway bridge site Wednesday morning.
Collinsville's restored City Hall is open for business but a few remaining finishing touches continue (such as new interior window framing in the bottom photo). The plaza area (the closed 12th Street area east of City Hall) will be developed in a future project. The latest plan for a City Hall grand opening is early in March.
The Collinsville Economic Development Authority had their initial meeting today with most trustees present. The main discussion was how to best determine a plan of attack for the group in boosting Collinsville to potential commercial and residential newcomers. The authority plans to meet again soon and gather hints from other communities with successful economic development programs. (Previous Coverage)
CHS Principal Cory Slagle presented detail of the proposed trimester system (planned for the high school starting this fall) at the Feb. 6, 2006 School Board meeting. The board will vote on the topic at their March meeting.
