Members of Collinsville's Chamber of Commerce learned details of the Oklahoma Centennial Botanical Garden at Thursday's meeting. The first phase of the garden is planned for completion by Oklahoma's Centennial in Nov. 2007. The site is about 7 miles northwest of downtown Tulsa at near the Post Oak Lodge (and adjacent to the proposed large Indian Statue Monument). The gardens will serve educational and research goals in addition to the beauty and plant collections. A planned extension of the Gilcrease Expressway will provide improved access to the site in coming years. The project was started with the Vision 2025 funds. Educational partners are OSU, TCC and Tulsa Technology Center. The project will continue to seek public and private funding.

Thursday's presentation was made by Pearl Garrison who was introduced by Pat Woodrum.
