Praire View Addition (Ave. D & Center St.)
A new fence, guard rail and directional signs were installed this week in a cooperative effort with the District 8 office of the Dept of Transportation and Collinsville’s Street Department. The effort was made possible through coordination with Commissioner Porter, City Manger Polk and City Planner Wolfram. The fence and signage were damaged over 2 years ago and the cooperative effort marks a new era in developing a working relationship between the City and State. Similar efforts are in process with the Broadway Bridge and the S-Curve. -- (Submitted photo and information)
Cherokee Language Bowl
Ted, just wanted to let you know that a group of students from Herald Elementary are in Tahlequah today (11-1-05) to participate in a Cherokee Language Bowl. The kids have been learning / practicing the language for about the last three weeks. This all being done through the Indian Education Program through the schools. My daughter Rachel is a part of the group and she just called letting me know that they, so far, have won a round and lost a round, but will be going to another round this afternoon.

Just thought it might be something that could be put on the web site to acknowledge these "brave" kids in attempting such a challenge. Janice Fields would be the main person to contact for additional information. The Indian Education building is located at 310 S. 14th St., which is just south of the middle school, and the office number is 371-5449.

Thanks
