City officials indicated last week that the historic Collinsville swimming pool has been cleared for another season by the Health Department, but the long term continued use of the pool is doubtful. This discussion was part of a meeting with the citizens group making recommendations on spending Vision 2025 funds for city park improvements.

Collinsville's community pool was built with mostly volunteer labor starting in 1954 and completed in 1958.

City Penalized

In the March 7th City Manager's report to the City Commission, Jim Whitlock indicated that the city had not satisfied the Oklahoma State Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) consent order relating to operation of the sanitary sewer system. (Previous Coverage) The city failed to identify the source of some out of limit readings back in 2002 A $10,000 stipulated penalty for non-compliance is being held in abeyance pending faithful performance on the revised consent order. DEQ may impose a fine as high as $30,000.

Portions of the east wall at the new middle school building started going up March 9th.
The CHS Chorus will be putting on productions of "Guys and Dolls" May 9th
and 10th.
