February 24, 2020 Ted's Retirement Plans |
I have been working for a long time ... and have a lot more work to do ... but will soon make a major change in work priorities. I will be retiring from the school at the end of June 2020 at age 69. My school related work will hopefully remain the same until then (OKCardinalChirp Twitter & Instagram & cvillleok). Beginning with this year, I have already started reducing my other community coverage on cvilleok.com. Starting in July 2020 my cvilleok.com website will remain online but will become "inactive". I will then no longer update calendars, no longer accept fundraiser promotions, no longer add obituary links or city/school agendas, and will cover news or sports only when I feel like it. I stopped soliciting advertising years ago and will only accept ads in the future with customer acknowledgement that it will be on an "inactive" site. The "Newspaper Museum In Collinsville" will remain open by appointment-only as it has been since I started with the school in 2012. The museum will have been available for tours for 21 years by May 2020. The cvilleok.com website will have documented 17 years of Collinsville events by mid-March 2020. In case you are wondering what I will be doing instead ... I have a massive list of "other" work (family, household, museum and history/photo related) that has been on hold for years ... especially the past 8+ years while school related work was top priority. I hope to attend occasional school and community events after retirement ... but it will be to enjoy ... not to work. I've never been retired before, so this plan is subject to change, after I get 'wiser" and dependent on what the government does with health care and Social Security. -- Ted Wright --
