Shade Structure For Elementary Playground
Collinsville Upper Elementary Receives Shade Structure Grant
Collinsville Upper Elementary has been awarded a Shade Structure Grant from the American Academy of Dermatology. The grant will enable a permanent shade structure to be built over a portion of the playground that will protect 650 children each day from the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays.
Since its launch in 2000, the AAD’s Shade Structure Grant Program has awarded funding for more than 400 shade structures, which provide shade for more than 3 million individuals each day. Dr. Janelle Pavlis, a member of the AAD, sponsored Collinsville Upper Elementary’s grant application.
Collinsville Upper Elementary will be holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new shade structure after its installation later this summer.
