Property Value / Tax Process Explained

John A. Wright, Tulsa County Assessor, spoke to the Collinsville Chamber of Commerce Thursday August 1, 2019. He explained the process his office follows to assess the value of homes, businesses and land in Tulsa County. They are charged with reviewing 1/4 of the properties each year which means your (fair market) property vaule could be updated every 4 years. If you disagree with the valuation, there is a (free) process to challenge it. They do not inspect the interior of homes unless requested.

Ad valorem property taxes are collected yearly (based on that valuation) to help fund about 30 entities (including school, city and county organizations). There are currently 83 people in the assessor's office that work to track each property in Tulsa County.

Most of their records are available to the public online: www.assessor.tulsacounty.org
