2016 Lady Cardinals
Start Season With 4-0 Home Opener Win Over Grove
Trust me ... completely hidden under a cloud of dust, Ravyn Murphy had just scored the first run of the Collinsville Lady Cardinal's 2016 season (in defense of their 2015 5A State Title). She led off the first with a single, followed by a Makayla Bowman single, a Rylee DeLozier sacrifice, and then Darci Chester's RBI single.
Ashton Friend pitched the 4-0 shutout season opener here over Grove Tuesday. Collinsville scored 2 runs in the first and 2 more in the second inning.
There are many new (freshman) faces in the dugout this year on an experienced (4 year starter) senior dominant team.

Rylee DeLozier's super aggressive base running style occasionally gets her in a jam ... but even after being trapped in a run down between 2nd and 3rd ... she ended up safely at 3rd base with a bunch of defenders standing around wondering how she pulled that off.

Sydnie McCelland was in the dirt (safely) at both 1st base and 2nd base in this inning.
Gavin Rose (CHS 2011) was on the microphone as the softball announcer Tuesday.
Grove made their only serious threat in the 7th inning with two base hits but the game ended with pitcher Ashton Friend tagging out a trapped runner.
I'm easily distracted ... and wondering how much shade a nearly dead tree can provide for cows resting during the game next to the softball field on a hot August afternoon. -- Ted
The Junior High Softball Ladies were out for a morning practice Monday. I heard they split a pair of games (at Grove) Tuesday ... while the varsity was at home. -- Ted
