Cardinal Football -- Jr. High Update 9-2-15

The Oologah Mustangs Jr. High Football teams hosted the Collinsville Cardinals Tuesday night at Mustang Stadium for a non-conference contest. This was the first game of the 2015 season for both programs and there was great anticipation from a full house for a rivalry win.

The 7th grade Cardinals displayed total control the entire night. With an outstanding kicking game, dominate running game, precise passing attack and a smash mouth defense the Cardinals were too much for the Mustangs. Cardinals win 27-7. There are several 7th grade injuries to report. Caden Bouy suffered a concussion and broken collar bone prior to the game. Caden will be sidelined for several weeks. We wish him a speedy recovery. Landen Tidrick, Zack Morris and Hunter Sills (The Bus) are recovering for broken hands. They should be in the lineup soon.

The 8th grade Cardinals gave the fans plenty of entertainment. With a crushing running attack, overpowering defense and solid kicking game the Cardinals broke the Mustangs will to play. Cardinals win 34-23. No injuries were reported.
In the 9th grade contest the “Boys of Fall” proved what Cardinal Football is all about. The slugfest was short and sweet. The Cardinals played every down with tenacity and were just too overpowering for the Mustangs. Cardinals win 35-0. No injuries were reported.

The Cardinal Nation will host the Coweta Tigers next Thursday, September 10th at Sallee Field. Games begins at 5pm. This will be a Metro Lakes Conference contest. We hope to have a vocal crowd of Cardinal fans.
