The Home Representative Club (HRC) of Collinsville was very excited to host the 5th annual President's Day Coloring Contest for students at Collinsville Wilson Elementary. The 2015 HRC Coloring Contest committee members are Carolyn Brinkley and Rusti Howard. HRC is a civic organization dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer services. For over 50 years HRC has sponsored many projects for the community. Just some of the programs that have allowed HRC the opportunity to help the students of the Collinsville School system are:
* Sponsor the annual Mother/Daughter Senior Tea for CHS graduating senior girls;
* Award a college scholarship to a graduating senior;
* Sponsor the Outstanding Sophomore HOBY Award; and
* Organize and donate Christmas baskets full of new toys, clothes and food gift certificates to children in the Collinsville school system from the Angel Tree.

With the help of the Wilson Elementary staff, HRC implemented this contest five years ago and each year it has proven to be educational, fun and exciting for the students. This year each student received a Presidents Day Bookmark and each classroom received a book about Presidents Day. The classroom teacher at Wilson Elementary speaks to their students about the meaning of President’s Day. The students then color a picture that they feel best represents their interpretation of President’s Day. The children are not allowed to put their names on their papers, instead the teachers assign a number to the student’s paper. Each teacher then chooses the top three best pictures from their classroom and those papers are given to a judge who has over 40 years experience in art. This judge then volunteers their time to judge the pictures on neatness, creativity and how the student best represents “What President’s Day means to me”.

The Home Representative Club would like to thank the Wilson Elementary teachers, students and staff for their support regarding this event and Wilson Elementary Principal, Cheryl Hunt and Office Secretary, Kendra Salisbury for their continued support and help.

The winners were announced at an Awards Assembly on Friday, February 20, 2015. Each winner received a trophy from the Home Representative Club. It is with great excitement to announce the 2015 Home Representative Club Wilson Elementary President's Day Coloring Contest winners:

Hannah's Helping Hands, Inc. — Our Mission
We are a non-profit 501(c)3 organization providing financial assistance to families with children battling cancer. Many families need help with the most basic needs for their families during this fight for their child’s life. Some must leave work for months and even years to care for their sick child and the financial loss can be devastating. Our goal is to help as many families being treated locally as possible. We help with basic needs such as gas & food cards, groceries, wigs, utility payments, prescriptions, medical co-payments, rent/housing as well as other expenses. Our referrals come from doctors, nurses and staff at a local children’s hospital in Tulsa as well as our local communities.
