Jr. High Football Report (at Skiatook)

The Collinsville Cardinal Jr. High Football teams traveled west on Highway 20 to Skiatook Thursday night (Oct. 23rd) for a Metro Lakes Conference showdown. The “Cardinal Nation” showed up in force as the grandstands looked to be pretty full. Our teams gave our Cheerleaders and fans plenty to cheer about all night long.

The 7th grade contest was unbelievable. At the half, the Cardinal offense had ran just 3 plays and the half time score was 20-0. The O-Line opened huge holes and the backs ran with authority over the Bulldogs, while the defense was so stingy. The final score; Cardinals 28, Bulldogs 7. No injuries were reported. The 7th grade improve their record to 7-0.

The 8th grade game was another smash-mouth affair. Our defense “rose to the occasion” several times and our offense was just too much for the Bulldogs in the end. Cardinals win a big one, 30-16. No injuries were reported. The Cardinals improve to 7-0 with one game remaining on the schedule.

The 9th grade game was a defensive battle. Both teams moved the ball between the 20’s, but turnovers were the Cardinals worst enemy. Bulldogs win a close one 10-7. No injuries were reported. Congratulations to the Bulldogs.

Our next action will be at Sallee Field next Thursday. The Cardinals will host the Coweta Tigers for our final game of the year. The Metro Lakes Conference titles for the 7th and 8th grade teams will be on the line Thursday night beginning at 5pm. Please come out to support our boys and be positive with your support. Coaches and officials will make mistakes, just like any other adult may.

Academic Team Members Step Up
The CHS Academic Team won 2 out of 3 matches at home yesterday, extending their record to 17 and 3. With Captain Cannon Vogel absent (attending a college recruitment dinner), junior Dylan Bayouth stepped up his leadership scoring 70 points. He had strong support from freshmen Caden Weathers and Kaylyn Branen, each scoring 60 points. Sophomores Jordan Carney and Rachel Hadley and freshman Devyn Lyon also scored points for the Cardinals. The team will play again on Monday, Oct. 27 at Catoosa.
