Collinsville Elementary Cheerleading |
Collinsville Elementary Cheer is a youth cheerleading organization for children going into 1st grade 6th grade. This program was established to get children interested in the sport of cheerleading while developing self-esteem, teamwork, sportsman-like conduct, and learn the basic skills to become a cheerleader for the Collinsville Cardinals! We will be having our initial parent meeting April 10th @ 6:30 in the Herald Elementary Cafeteria for all interested parents and girls going into 1st grade 6thgrade. We will be going over registration, cost, uniforms, fundraising, dates for camp, guidelines, and expectations of girls, parents, and coaches. There will be lots of changes this year, so we ask that even veteran cheer parents and girls attend the meeting. How to sign up: Registration to cheer must be done online through www.sportabase.com . The cost is $35.00 per cheerleader. Please register your child for the grade that they will be going into next school year (T-1 is considered 1st grade). We prefer that you pay online, or you may pay at the parent meeting. Please complete all forms when registering online. Uniforms: We will be using the same uniform, warm-ups, bag, and poms as last year. There will be additional items that will be required to purchase such as the camp uniform, hair bows, and shoes. There will be a bundle price for all of these items. The cheer board will be open to take pre-payment installments to help ease the upfront cost for the season. Fundraisers will be offered to help offset the cost of uniforms, etc. Balance must be paid in full by June 7th. Uniform Fitting
Schedule: All participants are required to attend one of the scheduled
dates. Fundraisers: Glow Candles sales & Spirit Cups will be made available to help offset the cost of the uniforms. The fundraiser will run from the initial parent meeting (4/10) to the first uniform fitting (5/8). All forms and money must be turned in at the 1st uniform fitting. Coaches: Coaches will be selected through an application process. Please contact a board member to get an application to coach or pick one up at the initial parent meeting and turn in that night. An application must be completed to be considered for coaching. Previous coaches are also required to complete an application to be considered for next season. Community
Church -- Youth Missions Speaker |
Ted,
There are a couple of activities coming up you may want to know about. We would certainly appreciate the publicity. Sunday at 4 p.m. the Community Church youth will hear a youth missions speaker, Kelsey Speer. She is an honor student and member of the President's Leadership Council at OSU who will speak about her experiences in Haiti. She is from Stillwater. She felt that her first mission trip to Haiti changed her life. When school is out she is going back to work with children there again, and then will be going to South Africa in June. She will be an academic intern with Ubantu youth during the summer. Kelsey discovered her love for missionary work and plans to put it to use. She hopes to become a physician or dentist and return to the mission field for her career. She is outstanding. Youth from throughout the community are invited to attend. Refreshments will follow.
Next item: For your calendar--The Annual Senior Tea will be held May 6 at 2 p.m. in the gym at Faith Fellowship. Senior girls and their mothers are invited to attend. The tea is hosted by the GFWC Home Representative Club of Collinsville. Senior girls should rsvp to their senior English teachers.
Thanks, Susan Murphy Pratt (4/9/2014) |

The
Collinsville Public Schools Board of Education adopted an OPT out policy
written by the schools attorney Doug Mann. This is a response to increased
questions from parents about getting their children out of state and federally
mandated standardized tests and field testing. It is a way to inform parents
that the district respects their rights and the potential consequences
to the student, school, and district if those rights are exercised. The district is required to test a minimum of 95% of enrolled students or face sanctions from OSDE. The OSDE does not recognize the legal right of any parent/guardian or student to opt out of the districts standardized testing program. As a result the OSDE requires that all students be provided with appropriate tests pursuant to the districts testing program. Any documentation of opting out or refusal to test will be kept by the district. Any parent/guardian who does not want his/her student to participate in the districts testing program must submit an opt out form to the building principal by the end of the day APRIL 9TH, 2014. If a timely opt out form is on file with the district, the student will be placed in an alternate school area during the testing session. We apologize for the short notice but this policy had to be board approved before made available. -- Cara Jones 4/7/2014 |
