Betty
Jo Heinrichs Betty Jo Heinrichs,
resident of Owasso, passed from this life on Tuesday, October 22,
2013 at the Evergreen Care Center. She was 82 years of age. Betty
Jo was born July 27, 1931 in Collinsville to Olin and Hazel (Lee)
Burnside. She was raised and received her education there, graduating
from Collinsville High School. She then attended Cottey College and
later Oklahoma A & M (now Oklahoma State University) where she
received her teaching degree. On May 25, 1952 Betty Jo married her
high school sweetheart Raymond Lee Heinrichs at the Collinsville Community
Church. Betty Jo was a retired elementary teacher in the Collinsville
Public Schools where she shared her passion for teaching. Visitation for Betty
Jo will be held Wednesday, October 23, 2013 from 5pm 7pm at Mowery
Funeral Service; and graveside services will be Thursday at 11:00 am
at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Collinsville. The family has requested that those
who would like to honor Betty Jos memory may do so by contributing
to the Memorial Fund at Collinsville Community Church, 1423 West Oak
St., Collinsville, OK 74021. Arrangements and services have been entrusted
to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso. |

Note: My cvilleok.com
coverage of those passing is often less than I wish due to either lack
of material or time. Although this page is delayed due to my recent schedule, I do have a wealth of material as I had done research several years ago for Betty Jo's daughter Hazel for one of Raymond and Betty Jo's anniversaries. That material (sampled here) is from the archives of Collinsville newspapers and starts with T.A. Lee (an ancestor) who was an early day Collinsville mayor, undertaker, and hardware store owner. The T.A. Lee Hardware store started in ~1901 and later became Burnside Hardware and even later Burnside-Heindrichs Hardware after her husband joined the family business (at the corner where Silver Dollar Cafe is located today). I'm not sure when Betty Jo started teaching in Collinsville but she was on the list of the original teachers at Wilson Elementary when it opened in August 1960. -- Ted Wright -- Oct. 31, 2013 |
