Sports Medicine Bootcamp
Re: SPORTS MEDICINE BOOTCAMP,
PLEASE PASS ALONG TO STUDENTS

The "Sports Medicine Bootcamp" will be held at the Skiatook Multipurpose Activity Center on July 24th and 25th. Students interested in sports medicine and/or athletic training will have the opportunity to learn and apply basic preventative taping and immediate injury care techniques from nationally certified and state licensed athletic trainers with a wealth of experience. Students will also have the opportunity to discuss all-state recognition criteria, scholarship opportunities, and careers in sports medicine.

Feel free to pass this along to any other staff member who may know of interested students.

Chamber of Commerce Update

Roger Dunham is the new Executive Director for the Collinsville Chamber of Commerce. Roger has been on the job since mid-June 2012. This is a new position for the Collinsville Chamber and is being funded by a generous local business for this year. Roger comes to us by way of Skiatook. Drop by and welcome Roger to Collinsville.

The chamber office is located across from City Hall at 1126 W Main. The chamber email address is still in transition but will likely settle soon to roger@collinsvillechamber.net

Phone: 918-371-4703
www.collinsvillechamber.net
Expect an announcement soon on the secretary position for the chamber. That position has been vacant since Wanda Nyburg's retirement. Kathy Rogers and Connie Collis have volunteered time to help keep the chamber rolling.
Also, expect an announcement soon on the Chamber's $hop, $ave & Win promotion where $100 purchases from participating Chamber member can put you in multiple $1000 drawings over the next year. Details are still being nailed down at this time.
The chamber's July general meeting was replaced by the annual City Appreciation "picnic". The event was held indoors at City Hall this year, providing a cool place to thank our city (& a few Tulsa County) employees for all they do for our city.
The chamber's traditional appreciation "breakfast" for the school employees will be transitioned to a "lunch" this year. The details are still in the works but expect it to either be August 14th or 15th. The first day of classes will begin August 16th.
Note: I did not attend the Sunday event above but have an email from Linda Pfeffer (which I haven't had time to open yet) that may have more coverage? -- Ted 7/16/2012 -- (Previous Coverage)
Crown Theatre Re-Opened Saturday July 14th (as Opry)
Based on the lack of parking places for at least a block and a half in all directions, I'm figuring the show at the Crown Theatre was well attended tonight (Saturday July 14th). -- Ted -- 7/14/2012
-- (I have one report Sunday that the place was packed)
Herron's Crown Opry Theatre is scheduled to open the 2nd and 4th Saturday each month with live country and gospel music. The doors open at 6pm for the 7pm shows in Historic Downtown Collinsville.
