Trouble Early -- Collinsville fumbled on this first play from scrimmage with Booker T. Washington taking over at the Cards 20 yard line. BTW scored 3 plays later for a quick 0-7 score.
Aaron Kelly (47) sacked the BTW QB back to the 17 forcing a punt on the second Hornet possession.
Collinsville started this 1st quarter possession at their own 6 yard line after a long BTW punt. On the 3rd play the Cards had an "extra" player in the backfield as a BTW defender jumped offside well ahead of the snap moving the play out to the 11 yard line.
From the 11, QB Zane McElroy (#4 right) and TJ Johnson (#6 left) connected on a pass play out to the Cards 42 yard line. Collinsville moved into BTW territory (down to the 36) before being backed up and punting to end the 1st quarter.
Collinsville's (no-huddle) offensive plays were signaled from the sidelines. It worked well on most plays but may have contributed to a few extra delay penalties.
Collinsville had a nice sized crowd in the huge visitors stands. It was also a pleasant change to see the nearly full home stands for the tradition rich Hornets as they turned out to support their team (compared to recent trips to Hale, Webster, Memorial, ...). -- Ted
This was the first Shane Goosen (#21) punt to end the 1st quarter. I didn't see the infraction nor hear the lengthy discussion, but Collinsville was awarded yardage (short of a first down). Shane punted again (on an additional untimed 1st quarter play) down to the 14 yard line.
Isaac Dyer (#23) made the stop on this BTW ball carrier with brother Dylan Dyer (#83) backing him up on this 2nd quarter play.
Booker T. Washington scored on this 26 yard run with 2:47 left in the 2nd quarter. Their kick was good for a 0-14 score.
