Over fifty guests attended the Pink Hat Brunch October 10, 2009, held at the Collinsville
Community Church. Sponsored by the Home Representative Club, the brunch was a
fundraiser for Tulsa Komen, with guest speaker LeAnne Taylor - anchor of "Six
in the Morning" and breast cancer survivor. LeAnne shared her story with
the audience, providing insight to the struggles and achievements encountered
while surviving breast cancer. A video presentation "Strength in Knowing," and speakers for Tulsa Project Woman, Network of Strength, and Women's Health Issues preceded the delightful brunch which was catered by Collinsville's own Pam Webb of Three Sisters' Kitchen. Door prizes were provided by Chrome Cowgirls (Oologah), Panera Bread (Owasso), Madalan's Hallmark (Owasso), The Fitting Room (Tulsa), and Margaret Waldorf (Collinsville). An award was also given for the "best pink hat." The Pink Hat Brunch raised over $1000.00 which will be donated to the Komen affiliate in Tulsa. |

The
Patchworkers met at the Collinsville Library October 13, 2009 and shared many
items they had created for family, friends, and special causes. Several house
blocks have been completed, that will be sewn into a quilt for the American Legion
Roof Fund fundraising efforts; Christmas centerpieces were displayed, that will
be donated to the Library's Silent Auction that begins right after Thanksgiving;
and members also made several baby quilts for Newborns In Need and the Cherokee
Nation Indian Welfare organization. Patti Schneider provided alphabet letters on fabric, for members to use in creating colorful name tags in time for the November meeting, and an Autumn centerpiece was awarded for a door prize. The next meeting will be at 7:00 PM on November 10, at the Library - anyone interested in quilting is welcome to attend! |
