Collinsville punted only twice in the game and those were in the scoreless first quarter with James Norris (#34) doing the duty.
The Collinsvile defense shutout Grove for three quarters. Steven Majike made this tackle for a 5 yard loss on Grove's 2nd possession.
Joe Keith (28) and a bunch of other Cardinal defenders stopped this Grove play near midfield on this 1st quarter play. A few plays later the defense held Grove on downs at the 30 yard line ending Grove's 1st possession.
On the first play of the second quarter Steven Majike (#36) ran up the middle then broke several tackles and bounced outside for a 27 yard TD run to give Collinsville a 6-0 lead with 11:52 left in the half. The Card's extra point challenges continued with the kick attempt missing.
After Collinsville's first score Grove ran the kickoff back to the Cardinal 27 with a penalty taking it all the way to the 13. Jamaro Oakley (#31 right) was defending on this 3rd down incompletion from the 12. Grove attempted a field goal on the next play which was short. The Tulsa World credited Jamaro with a block on the kick at 10:08 in the 2nd quarter.
Shane Douglas (#9) had just received the shotgun snap and Merin Oakley (#30) was gaining speed to take the handoff and rush down to Grove's 8 yard line. Merin then scored on an 8 yard TD run at 8:23 in the 2nd quarter. The PAT pass attempt was intercepted leaving the score at 12-0. The drive had started with Merin gaining 42 yards after Grove's missed field goal. The Tulsa World credited Merin with 219 total rushing yards for the evening.
Trevor Rabbitt (#32) intercepted this Grove pass near the 40 yard line setting up the final Cardinal drive of the 1st half.
Will Wood (#44 above) caught this 5 yard Shane Douglas pass at Grove's 48 yard line. (I'm still trying to figure out how his upper torso and legs seem to be twisted in opposite directions? -- Ted)
Merin Oakley (#30) gained 10 yards down to the 38 yard line on the Card's final drive in the first half.
Collinsville was this close to adding a 3rd first half touchdown but this John Pinney (#85) catch in the endzone was ruled to have touched the ground. Grove was called for interference on the play moving the Cards to the 7 yard line. Merin Oalkey reached the 5 but lost back to the 12 on the next play. After two incompletions the Cardials tried a Dillon Harwood field goal that just missed with 56 seconds left in the half.
Collinsville led 12-0 at the half.
The Collinsville cheerleaders switched to pink for their halftime performance before the bands marched.
