A new state agency (Oklahoma Employer Services Center) became operational in Feb. 2008 to be the central point of contact for Oklahoma employers on child suport processes. That includes new hire reporting, income withholding orders, medical support orders, and just answering questions.
OKECS is a collaborative effort between the Oklahoma Child Support Services of the Oklahoma Department of Human Services and the University of Oklahoma Center for Public Management.
The new agency is still trying to get the word out to the approximately 82,000 employers in Oklahoma. They will also host a Nov. 17th workshop at Tulsa Tech. In their first year the agency fielded 32,800 calls and processed 193,000 forms. Their goal is to help the children of Oklahoma as well as provide assistance to employers with processes involving child support services.
