Library
Vandals |
Having first noticed a water leak behind the Library has led to discovery of an even worse problem there. I have pondered for a few days how to address this and perhaps offer some solution. The best I have come up with is a request for reponsible adults (or youth) to help keep an eye on our public library for those few that choose to abuse the privilege. Your suggestions and help would be appreciated. -- Ted Wright 5/31/2009 |
Thanks
Ted, I have alerted downtown Maintenance about it...our sprinkler system seems
to find all types of ways to leak. also notice sprinkler heads have been pulled
from the ground. We have had so much trouble with the teens the past two weeks...I do not know if another news story would help or not....this morning obscene graphics on the white door downstairs on the east side of the building...we have repainted and cleaned that area at least every other day for the past two weeks....today we found the stall door in the boys bathroom ripped off the stall and damaged , they have keyed one of the murals on the stairway inside the library, and the list goes on... I have called the police numerous times, lots of the outside stuff happens after hours. I was thinking with school out the damage would cease but some happened today or late last night. Really at my wits end. -- Susan (5/28/2009) |

Press
Release: 5/19/2009 (Received 5/28)
Former Collinsville News editor Mike McCarty, has written a new childrens book which imparts valuable lessons about morals to children.
Curiously Odd Moral Insights for Children (COMIC) is available at Authorhouse.com
Curiously Odd Moral Insights for Children (COMIC) includes short stories and poems each highlighting a moral within a story delivering insights about good behavior. The stories are great for story times or individual readings and include tales about helpful clowns, friendship between a dog and a turtle and a misguided witch, among other tales. Children will love the flow of poetry and short stories, and the book encourages discussion between children and adults about morals.
The book was illustrated by Adan Perez, a 1996 graduate of Collinsville High School. McCarty is a 1987 graduate of Owasso High School and Child Welfare Specialist with Cherokee Nation Indian Child Welfare. He is also a graduate student at the University of Oklahoma-Tulsa School of Social Work.
