Electrical Safety Award |
Shane Woolbright (left, MESO General Manager) presented a safety award Friday March 27, 2009 to the Collinsville City Electrical Department: Don Smalygo, Donnie Jackson, and Paul Staehle. |
MESO
Press Release Collinsville was recognized for outstanding distribution construction standards, good customer service, and very low margin of customer service disturbances. Collinsville employees meet the requirements of their work with professionalism and safety due to the employer efforts. These efforts include four years of rigorous field experience and testing for each line worker before he achieves journey lineworker status. In addition, employees do safety reviews before each job and attend monthly training and safety sessions in addition to other training provided by the utility. The time frame for the award was for calendar year 2008. Collinsville scored well in reliability with crews normally responding to and correcting a customer outage within 80 minutes. By having local ownership of the electric system and crews located within one mile of most customers, residents in Collinsville don't wait long for electric service crews to respond to problems. MESO General Manager Shane Woolbright presented the award to Collinsville. Said Woolbright, "The City of Collinsville has demonstrated a continuous effort in the past decade to be the highest quality public power system. This is evidenced by such actions as training of employees in system preventive maintenence and having employee development programs to prevent problems from overvoltage and overcurrent. Improved tree trimming practices play a big role in reliability as well." "The current construction standards and employee training standards of the utility are superior, and that effort has resulted in the outstanding reliabilitycitizens receive and the presentation of this award. It should be noted that good service and 100% employee attendance have a connection." MESO is an electric utility trade association representing cities in Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, and Arkansas. The association's member utilities provide non-profit electric services to some 7000,000 people in the three states. |

Democrats Launch Web Site |

Immediate Release House Democrats launch website: okhousedems.com Oklahoma City (March 30, 2009) The Oklahoma Democratic Party today announced the launch of a new website, okhousedems.com, to spread the House Democrats' message to the citizens of Oklahoma. Were proud to be launching this new project, and we believe it will help us all keep our constituents better apprised of what were doing at the Capitol, said Democratic Leader Danny Morgan, D-Prague. House Democrats want to make every effort to be as open and accountable as possible to our constituents. A website is a great way to do offer the public as much information as we can give them so they can explore it on their own time. Rep. Morgan noted that the website remains an ongoing project, but already site visitors can find an archive of press releases, editorials and videos from this session featuring Democratic legislators. I think this site will complement the resources already available to the public on the House website. It gives Democratic members a chance to really tell the public our side of the story and talk about what were doing to fight for everyday Oklahomans, Rep. Morgan added. Not all of our members have websites of their own to keep their constituents updated on what bills theyre bringing up or what issues theyre working on, so this gives all our Democratic members an opportunity to share their news and ideas. Rep. Morgan encouraged all Oklahomans to visit okhousedems.com regardless of their party affiliation. |
