Ricky Hayes of Retail Attractions, Inc., spoke to the Collinsville Chamber of Commerce monthly meeting Thursday Jan. 8th. The topic was economic development for Collinsville which Mr. Hayes has been contracted by the city to support. Hayes is the former economic development director for the City of Owasso but is now an independent contractor working for several local communities. Mr. Hayes indicated Collinsville "needs to build a sales tax base". And as is true with most communities, the trend is "grow or die". Hayes indicated 2-3 well known retailers are considering Collinsville at present but he could not disclose their identity. He also indicated public/private partnerships were key to the success in Owasso with incentives involved in every large retail acquistion there with the end result of sales tax revenues doubling. Rickey Hayes was a cop in Texas before coming to Owasso in 2002 and helping fuel their remarkable retail growth.. |
